Greene County Schools tapped for six-figure teacher grant

The state has announced that Greene County Community School District will receive an additional $404,000 next year through a teacher leadership compensation grant.

The district was one of 39 selected to receive funding for the first of what will be a three-year rollout process.

“We’re extremely excited about it,” said superintendent Tim Christensen. “I believe the teacher leadership path has the opportunity to change education.”

The grant, which will create mentor teachers, also means it’s now unlikely the district will have to cut staff, as originally feared.

Read in detail about the grant, and what it means for education in Greene County, in Thursday’s Jefferson Herald.
