Negotiators for the Greene County School Board and the Greene County Education Association (the teachers’ union) on Monday afternoon reached agreement on the master contract for fiscal year 2023-24.
The negotiators agreed on a contract with a base salary of $33,888 for the coming year. The current base salary is $33,350. The base salary serves as the touchstone for all other salaries on the “grid.”
The new base would result in a total cost increase to the school district of $291,310, or 3.4922 percent above the current year’s cost. The figure includes salary-related costs such as Social Security, Medicare, and the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS).
Both the school board and GCEA will need to approve the settlement before it becomes final.
