Home State bank names Bob Allen as new president

Bob Allen has been named president of Home State Bank, which was confirmed during their annual board meeting held on Feb. 18. Allen has 18 years in the banking industry and has been a part of the Home State Bank team since 2012.

A native of Greene County, Allen is a 1998 graduate of Jefferson-Scranton High School, and a 2002 graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural business. He is currently set to complete his graduate school of banking from the University of Colorado, Boulder in July.

Allen and his wife Bridgett live on their family farm near Churdan. They have three children, Elizabeth, Cody, and Paisley. Allen enjoys working on the farm with his family and enjoys coaching youth sports, especially his current role as the defensive line coach for the Greene County Rama varsity football team.

Former Bank President, Sid Jones, will continue his 38-year career with Home State Bank as CEO and Chairman of the Board.

In addition to this transition, the following promotions were awarded during the board meeting:
- Adam Huen, senior vice president, chief credit officer
- Eric Hockenberry, market president
- Teresa Hoyle, vice president, retail manager
- Tami Larimore, vice president, business banking manager

Expanding to Ankeny
Home State Bank continues to grow and serve the needs of our customers, which has allowed the organization to open a loan closing office in Ankeny just over a year ago. This new office is a temporary location as Home State Bank plans to open a new Polk City location to serve more customers in Polk County and the surrounding area. This new Polk City location will open as a full-service bank offering the same community-driven care and services of the Jefferson branch. Eric Hockenberry will lead this transition as market president.

“We have been serving customers and building relationships in the Polk County area for over a decade now, and we are enthusiastic about opening a full-service location in Polk City to better serve and to continue to grow individual and business relationships,” bank president Allen said. “We are hopeful to break ground in 2022, with intentions of opening our doors sometime in 2023.”
