GRAND JUNCTION — The Iowa Grocery Industry Association chose Earth Day on Wednesday to announce that the city of Grand Junction will receive benches and a new trash receptacle made from recycled plastic bags.
Grand Junction has been picked to receive three five-foot curved benches, two six-foot benches and a trash receptacle through the Build with Bags program.
Junction is one of 22 recipients this year, and will receive a $1,691 grant to purchase the items made by Plastic Recycling of Iowa.
Doug Monaghan, manager of Fareway in Jefferson, wrote a letter of support on behalf of Grand Junction.
The Build with Bags grant program is in its sixth year.
