A 29-year-old Bouton man who admitted he had sex with a Grand Junction girl when she was 12 or 13 will be sentenced to up to six months in jail in March, according to court records.

Steven Clifford Jones pleaded guilty this week to felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor indecent contact with a child as part of an agreement to avoid potentially years in prison.

The felony charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, but under the agreement that sentence will be suspended.

Jones will have to register as a sex offender.

The girl reported the relationship — which happened about four years ago — to law enforcement last year.

Jones admitted in an interview with a deputy sheriff in July that he had sexual intercourse multiple times with the girl and that she sent him nude photos, court records show.

A criminal complaint says that some of the contact happened at Squirrel Hollow Park, about four miles southeast of Jefferson.
