New businesses, Legacy Events and Good Stuff, awarded Jefferson Wants You incentive funds

Special to the Jefferson Herald

A pair of new, local businesses have been awarded Jefferson Wants You Incentive Funds for new start-ups.
Together, the two business ventures – Legacy Events and Good Stuff were awarded more than $7,000 via the Rural Return project funded through local utilities, financial institutions, and a grant from Grow Greene County in 2022.

AN EVENTFUL OPENING

Abby and Alex McConnell have purchased the property at 217 E. Lincoln Way and will be opening Legacy Events this spring.
Their business will focus on event rentals, services and supplies for all types of events such as weddings, parties, social gatherings and business events. Not only will there be a physical location but a website can be accessed at www.legacyeventsiowa.com. The McConnells are in the process of remodeling the interior and exterior to accommodate the business.

The Jefferson Wants You team awarded the McConnells $5,000 towards their start-up costs. Abby and Alex are local graduates who returned to Jefferson to live and raise their family.

THE GOOD STUFF

Bill and Pauline Allen have been involved in collecting antiques, vintage furniture and decor along with home made items for years and have decided to open a storefront at 702 E. Lincoln Way.  They have been buying and selling items in stores in nearby communities but now plan to bring it all to Jefferson. The business is called Good Stuff by Bill and Pauline and is now open for business.

The Jefferson Wants You team awarded the Allens $2,500 towards their start-up costs. The Allens are long-time residents of Jefferson.

New business start-ups in Jefferson are eligible to apply for one-time start-up costs through the Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund. Find the application at www.experiencejefffersoniowa.com under Grow Here; Entrepreneurial.
