Police Report - Through April 21

April 12
12:46 a.m. - Jasmine Fluker reported a trespasser in the garage at 205 N. Locust Street. An officer made contact with the male and advised him to leave and not return.
8:15 a.m. - Mike Goodwin reported he was walking his dog in the 400 block of N. Chestnut Street and a German Shepherd approached him in a vicious manner. He advised officers of where he believed the owner lives. An officer went to 402 N. Chestnut Street and spoke to the subjects. They reported they had found the dog running loose in Boone County and brought the animal home several weeks ago. They said the animal is very aggressive towards people and they did not wish to keep it any longer.
As they were speaking, the animal aggressively came at the officer and attempted to bite her. The owner was able to get the dog in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. The officer and Jefferson Police Chief took the animal to the Vet. 7:12 p.m. - An officer attempted to capture a snake in the yard at 107 N. Grimmell Road. The officer was not successful.
7:25 p.m. - Ellie Roper reported a vehicle was passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner on N. Ave. heading towards Jefferson. She reported she was forced off the road by the vehicle. A deputy located the vehicle north of Jefferson and performed a traffic stop.      
7:38 p.m. - Chantelle Long reported damage to a garage door at her rental property, located at 307 S. Grimmell Road. The officer provided a report for $1,500 damage for insurance purposes.
9:19 p.m. - The Wild Rose casino requested officers for a patron who had assaulted a casino pit boss. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Oliver W. Peyton, 49, of Newark, NJ, for assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

April 13
10:39 a.m. - St. Anthony’s in Carroll requested a welfare check on a male subject in the 200 block of W. Adams Street. The officers made contact with the subject and coaxed him to the Greene County Medical Center ER to be evaluated.
11:10 a.m. - Thomas Nido reported his girlfriend had been receiving unwanted text messages from a subject in Carroll. An officer spoke to the female who told the same story as her boyfriend had to the officer. The officer contacted the subject in Carroll and advised him to end all contact or possibly face criminal charges.
3:19 p.m. - Jessica Rudolph reported an incident had occurred during a child exchange at 401 E. Russell Street. An officer is investigating.
4:14 p.m. - Merissa Olson reported a stray dog in the 200 block of S. Chestnut Street. An officer located the animal but could not get near it, as it would run away. The owner’s child showed up to collect the animal. The officer will follow up with an adult owner.
7:27 p.m. - A caller reported a male who appeared to be intoxicated, stumbling around a vehicle at 303 W. Reed Street. An officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Sirjohn Daniels Wilder,37, of Jefferson for public intoxication.  
8:37 p.m. - An officer assisted the GC Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 500 block of S. Olive Street.    

April 14
3:48 p.m. - Mike Miller reported a tree had fallen due to high winds at Russell Park. The public works director was made aware of the issue.
6 p.m. - Brandon Gustoff reported a downed power line in the 600 block of S. Maple Street. Alliant Energy was contacted to make repairs.
8:28 p.m. - A caller advised of an open RV door at 1903 N. Mulberry Street. An officer secured the RV.
9:36 p.m. - David Sayre reported finding multiple empty alcohol bottles near a shed at 804 S. Elm Street. An officer advised he would be provided extra patrol in the area.
10:27 p.m. - Lance Dzuris reported a male subject hanging around his truck while parked at 305 E. Lincoln Way. Extra patrol will be given to the area.    
11:46 p.m. - An officer located a subject parked at Daubendiek Park. He informed the subject that the park was closed, and they went on their way.    

April 15
12:16 a.m. - A caller advised of a vehicle with its hazard lights activated near Highway 30 and Elm Street. The vehicle was not located in the area by an officer.
1:19 a.m. - Ana Coronado reported screaming coming from an apartment at 107 N. Grimmell Road. An officer spoke to a subject and learned she was having an argument with a subject on the phone. He told her to quiet down due to the time of day.
8:07 a.m. - Jennie Olson reported two stray dogs running near Monroe Street and Chestnut Street. The owner arrived and took control of the animals.
12:16 p.m. - Pat Griffin reported a careless driver south of Jefferson on Hwy. 4, heading towards Jefferson. An officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver about the complaint.
1:27 p.m. -  Oly’s Corner reported a possible intoxicated subject at 208 W. Lincoln Way Street. The subject had left before an officer’s arrival.
2:42 p.m. - An officer began an investigation into a possible assault and criminal mischief to a vehicle which had occurred at 1901 N. Grimmell Road.
11:05 p.m. - Joyce Richardson spoke with an officer in connection to unwanted text messages.

April 16
10:11 a.m. - The Greene County Medical Center reported to an officer that a patient did not wish for any further visits from two family members. They said if the subjects returned and were causing issues they would contact police.
5:50 p.m. - Beth Dowd reported her vehicle was missing from 517 N. Olive Street. An officer learned a family member had taken the vehicle to the store.
8:19 p.m. - An officer spotted a driver in the parking lot at the Wild Rose Casino he knew to be a barred driver. The officer spoke to the subject and the officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 37, of Jefferson for driving while barred.

April 17
8:20 p.m. - An officer arrested a wanted subject from 777 Wild Rose Lane. Conar Allen Hornsby, 25, of Grand Junction had an outstanding probation violation arrest warrant through Greene County. A search of Hornsby’s person located a marijuana smoking device. The officer also charged Horsby with possession of drug paraphernalia.
9:23 p.m. -  An officer responded to an accident at Elm Street and Russell Street. A 2014 Ford Explorer, owned and operated by Samantha Lehnhoff of Jefferson, collided with a deer. The vehicle received a reported $2,000 in damages.

April 18
12:53 a.m. - Kyle Cuddy reported seeing a flashlight in his garage at 504 S. Olive Street. An officer checked the garage but did not find anything out of the ordinary.
12:21 p.m. - Carter Fetters reported criminal mischief to his vehicle while parked at 307 E. State Street. A large rock had been thrown through the window on a 1996 Ford Ranger. Fetters provided an officer with a possible suspect in the matter. The officer is investigating.
3:18 p.m. - Rene Schaffer reported an abandoned bicycle in her yard at 606 N. Locust. The officer placed the bike in the impound lot.
3:22 p.m. - Tom Patrick reported a stray dog near 207 S. Cedar Street. An officer caught the stray and placed it in the animal holding facility.
4:21 p.m. - The Audubon PD requested information from Jefferson officers concerning any missing tombstones in town. They had located one in their city and wanted to find where it originated from. Officers checked the Jefferson cemeteries, but did not see anything suspicious.
1923 hrs,    A caller spoke with an officer about a possible scam on Amazon. The officer advised the caller to contact his bank about the issue.

April 19
3:37 a.m. - Michael Eastman reported a suspicious vehicle at 205 W. McKinley Street. An officer located an employee at the business checking on things, due to cold weather.
8:44 a.m. - Denise Harberts reported receiving a scam phone call from a subject claiming to work for Amazon. He was attempting to get her to purchase gift cards and give him the numbers off the cards. She recognized the call as a scam and did not purchase the cards.
9:13 a.m. - Brittany Smith reported possible fraudulent charges on a family member’s credit card. The officer advised the cardholder would need to report the incident themselves to law enforcement.
11:06 a.m. - A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in a private parking lot in the 400 block of N. Elm Street. The officer spoke to the subject and advised it was private property. The driver apologized and left the area.
12:11 p.m. - Jason Sherlock reported the theft of a rifle from 1200 S. Mulberry Street. An officer has pinpointed a suspect and is investigating the report.
2:40 p.m. - Bailey Cunningham reported a stray dog near Cedar Street and Lincoln Way. Officers did not locate the reported animal.    
3:26 p.m. - Shannon Faller reported a family member was receiving unwanted contact from a known male. An officer informed the caller the family member needs to report the issue themselves.
4:08 p.m. - A caller reported a small dog had been in a vehicle for several hours alone at 777 Wild Rose Lane. Officers did not locate the vehicle.
6:55 p.m. - Sparky’s reported two stray dogs. Officers were unable to capture the animals and they ran off.
    
April 20

8:53 a.m. - Jarod Rumley reported a male attempting to get into his residence at 501 W. State Street. He said the male was screaming and covered in blood. Officers located the subject in the area and learned he had been assaulted and shot inside the residence of 600 W. Lincoln Way. The male was taken to Greene County Medical Center ER by the GC Ambulance. Officers are investigating.
2:03 p.m. - An officer assisted the GC Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 1000 block of W. Adams Street.
4:33 p.m. - An officer checked the area of the 300 block of S. Wilson Avenue, after dispatch received a 911 hang up call from the area. The subject was fine.
5:49 p.m. - Gordon Herridge reported a tame white rabbit in his yard at 609 N. Chestnut Street. Officers were unable to catch the animal.
6:04 p.m. - An officer assisted the GC Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 500 block of N. Elm Street.
9:11 p.m. - A caller reported vehicles doing burnouts in the parking lot at 101 Ram Drive. An officer located a few vehicles in the area and spoke to the young drivers about the issue.
11:36 p.m. - A caller reported a subject riding a bike on W. Reed Street. They found this to be suspicious, due to the time of night. The officer did not locate the subject.

April 21
8:53 a.m. - A resident advised of being locked out of their residence in the 300 block of N. Chestnut Street. The officer was unable to make entry for the subject and provided them a ride to another location in Jefferson.    
10:26 a.m. - Shelby McBride requested officers at 305 N. Wilson Ave. for a domestic assault occurring there. An officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Katherine Elizabeth Wells, 33, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault/injury.
11:19 a.m. - Linda Huff reported a possible sick raccoon in the 1400 block of Westwood Drive. The officer was tied up, but went to the area after finishing the previous entry. The raccoon was not located by the officer.
5:42 p.m. - Cody Uhlenhopp spoke with an officer attempting to reach a juvenile female he believed lived in Jefferson. The officer learned the juvenile lived in Calhoun County and sent Uhlenhopp to them.
6:12 p.m. - William Richardson reported possible fraudulent charges on his credit card. The officer is investigating.
7:02 p.m. - Shand Madison reported catching a stray dog at 406 W. Head Street. The animal remained with Madison until an owner called in.
8:28 p.m. - Officers transported a juvenile female from the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way to Greene County Medical Center ER to be evaluated by a medical doctor.
