Supervisors accept weekly reports

The Greene County Board of Supervisors on Monday received several periodic reports from county officials in a relatively brief meeting.
The board accepted recorder Deb McDonald’s December fee report, auditor Jane Heun’s quarterly passport fees report, and treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen’s quarterly investment and drivers’ license report. The board also approved Mechaelsen’s semi-annual publication report for the six months ending Dec. 31, 2021.
Lori Mannel, Greene County extension director, briefed the board on the extension’s recent projects and activities, including an upcoming career readiness project for employees and employers.
City of Jefferson administrator Mike Palmer provided his monthly update to the supervisors.
County engineer Wade Weiss told the board the secondary roads crew plans to help clean up tree damage at Spring Lake caused by the December tornados/derecho.
The board this week begins its fiscal year 2022-23 budget preparation period, meeting Thursdays as well as Mondays. The meetings are held at 8:30 a.m. in the board room on the second floor of the courthouse.
Editor’s Note: last week’s report of the Jan. 3 county supervisor organizational meeting erroneously omitted Supervisor Dawn Rudolph’s committee assignments for 2022. They are as follows: Joint Entity Board; Decategorization Board; investments, insurance and finance; Greene County Board of Health; Central Iowa Community Services Governing Board and children’s behavioral health committee; New Opportunities (alternate); Freedom Rock committee; Region XII Policy Council (alternate); Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation (ex officio); and Emergency Management Commission.
