Wilson Avenue Suites almost ready for tenants

Former White Apartments transformed into modern dozen units


A Carroll-based property development group has invested $1.3 million in the renovation of the former White Apartments into the Wilson Avenue Suites just south of downtown Jefferson.
The 12-unit, two-story complex houses a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom arrangements that are expected to be ready at 215 S. Wilson Avenue for tenants by June 1, said Adam Schweers, managing partner of Court Street LLC. which does business as Western Iowa Living (

“They are definitely the newest apartments in Jefferson,” Schweers said. “I don’t think I’m going to have a problem filling them up.”

The organization has housing available in Jefferson, Carroll and Breda.
At the Wilson Avenue Suites there are five units on the first level, and seven on the second.

Each unit has its own heating and air-conditioning, and there are connections to high-speed Internet through Jefferson Telecom.

Rents per month are:

— 3 bedroom, $1,250
— 2 bedroom, $950
— 1 bedroom, $750

There is on-premises laundry and a new parking area and alley. Pets and smoking are not allowed. Residents pay for their electric and water bills, but the landlord handles the garbage fees.
Many of the apartments have abundant natural light and views of downtown Jefferson.

Schweers, a former mayor and the president of the statewide Highway 30 Coalition of Iowa, said his property group has enjoyed working in Jefferson and is interested in more projects in Greene County.
