Jefferson Garden Club hosts Tour of Homes

The Jefferson Garden Club will again host its popular holiday tour of homes event on Saturday, Dec. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. Four homes, decorated to showcase this year’s theme, “Winter Wonderland,” will be featured.
Tickets may be purchased from Garden Club members and at the Printer’s Box, Heartland Bank, HomeState Bank and People’s Bank, all in Jefferson.
This year’s tour includes a unique mix of homes from new construction to renovated and historicstructures. The tour includes one home in Jefferson’s newest neighborhood; a renovation of a notablehistoric home in the heart of the original community; a charming farmhouse design with many uniquefeatures and a bright and welcoming apartment in Ever Greene Ridge senior living community.
The 2024 homes are:
Betty Griffith and Jack Lint – Ever Greene Ridge, Unit 109, 1001 West Washington
A Christmas welcome to this bright apartment includes a “pearl tree” created by Betty’s late husband, Carson Griffith. Displayed in the two bedroom unit are other paintings including several by Carson. EGRwas built in 1991 and Betty and Jack have lived here for three years. A festive family Christmas dinner will be set at the dining table. The bay windows will feature a charming Christmas village of houses anda decorated tree of favorite ornaments. Jack’s collection of white porcelain with blue flowers is displayed with a grouping of Betty’s depression glass.
Veronica and Scott Morton — 206 Deer Run Road
This modern version of a farmhouse design was built by Scott and the couple moved in March 2020.The handcrafted maple furniture throughout the home was also built by Scott including dining roomtable and chairs, end tables, wardrobes, an endless list. A traditionally decorated live tree will centerthe sunroom with a Santa collection in the lower level of this five bedroom home. A wraparound frontporch creates a warm welcome to the open concept interior which the couple designed.
Denise and David Stofer — 607 East Adams
A charming original farmhouse design, brimming with unique touches; family photos and quilts, P.Buckley Moss prints, beautiful woodwork and built in hutches, it has been their home since 1987. Additions expanded the 1920s four bedroom home and a renovated three seasons porch is the idealspot to watch birds or a snowfall. Family favorite Christmas Village scenes and Boyd figurines collectionswill be displayed along with decorated trees in each room.
Susan and Aaron Thiel — 103 East Park
Restoring the essence of this historic home to its early 1900’s glory has been a labor of love for thiscouple over the past 11 years. With original flooring and woodwork throughout, modern convenienceshave been installed, bedrooms renovated to a total of five and a heated garage with second story multi-purpose office/guest bedroom added. Classic Christmas décor is featured complete with a train setaround the tree, children’s decorated tree and others with unique ornaments.
Refreshments will be offered by the Garden club in the main lobby of Ever Greene Ridge. Proceeds fromthe event are used for community betterment and beautification projects including the Memorial Garden along the Raccoon River Trail.
