Alice Klang
Alice Senia Klang, age 89, of Jefferson and formerly of Proctor, Minn. passed away on Dec. 1 at Regency Park in Jefferson.
Born on Dec. 23, 1924 in Proctor, Minn., she was the daughter of Carl and Senia (Johnson) Hokanson. She grew up in Proctor and graduated from Proctor High School. She worked as a bank teller in Duluth for a few years until she married to Herbert Edward Klang on March 8, 1947. The couple lived in Proctor where Alice was a homemaker and the devoted wife of a railroad engineer. She was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW and participated in adult bible study. Alice was a member of Eastern Star while living in Proctor and was Past Matron of Trinity Chapter #242. She was a Bethel Guardian of the Proctor chapter of Jobs Daughters. She moved to Jefferson, Iowa in 2007 and lived at The Gardens. They attended the Scranton United Methodist Church and Pleasant Ridge Community Church while living in Iowa. Alice enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, playing cribbage, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Alice and Herbert enjoyed the beauty of the Lake Superior shoreline on their many drives and outings together. They also enjoyed helping residents play Bingo at several local nursing homes while living in Proctor.
Alice is survived by her husband Herbert of 68 years of Jefferson, IA; a daughter Kay Skalla and her husband Craig of Scranton; a sister Dorothy Dahlquist and her husband Eugene of Brighton, Colo.; two grandchildren: Luke Skalla and his fiancé Bridgett Allen of Panora and Aaron Skalla of Scranton; a great granddaughter Madelynn; a brother-in-law Ernie Klang and his wife Delores of Hermantown, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy on March 29, 1952, and a sister Charlotte Burman.
Funeral services was held at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 6, at the Forbes United Methodist Church in Proctor with Rev. Cindy Rasmussen officiating. Visitation was held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 3. Organist for the service will be Lindsey Jaja. Burial will be in the Oneota Cemetery in Duluth. Casket bearers will be her nephews.
