Carol Oblinger
Carol A. Oblinger, 73, of Iowa City, died June 17, unexpectedly at her home.
A memorial service were held June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville. Her family will greeted friends June 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am.
On June 22, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Grand Junction United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Junction Township Cemetery in Grand Junction.
Instead of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to the Ronald McDonald House.
Carol was born August 10, 1940 in Jefferson, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth “Anne” (Bonynge) Oblinger. Raised in Grand Junction, Carol moved to Iowa City in 1986.
She worked in housekeeping at Oaknoll Retirement Residence for 16 years – retiring in 2005.
She was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church for many years and more recently, attended First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Carol shared a passion for Hawkeye sports – especially football.
She is survived by her brothers, Charles Johnson (Carol) of Lewes, Delaware and Thomas Oblinger of Coralville; nieces, Kristen Ivy (Sean) and Heidi Barker (Sean) – all of Wichita, Kansas and great nieces and nephews, Annabelle, Owen and Griffin.
Her parents and a sister in law, Zelda Oblinger preceded her in death.
