Earl Stevens

Earl Dean “Buzz” Stevens, 79 of Scranton, IA passed away peacefully on Sunday July 3 with family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with a private family burial at the Junction Township Cemetery.

Earl Dean Stevens was born in Carroll on October 21, 1942, the son of Vernon and Beulah (Frazier) Stevens. He grew up in Scranton where he attended school.

On February 25, 1961 Earl was united in marriage to Maria Lana Reineman at the Church of Christ in Scranton.

He worked on the crew that built the Mahanay Bell Tower. He retired from the Greene County Secondary Roads Department in 1997 and then he opened a lawn care business.

Buzz was a man of many talents including plumbing, carpentry, welding, concrete and mechanic work.  There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He could always be found busy in his garage and willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Earl is survived by four daughters, Tina (Lou) Abundis, Cindy (Gary) Russell, Annette (Nick) Foster and Kristy (Mike) Rohde.  His twin sister Erla Coellner, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Maria, his parents Vernon and Beulah, a sister Nancy Venditti, a brother Lloyd Stevens  and 3 infant brothers.

In memory of Buzz, memorials may be directed to the family.
