Gerald Patrick O’Mara

Gerald Patrick O’Mara passed away on March 23 at the age of 83.

Pat was born in Dubuque to Walter and Clara O’Mara on April 3, 1937. He was the youngest of seven children and a graduate of Loras Academy.

He was an active athlete. In his younger years, he enjoyed ski jumping, football, karate, and was a Golden Gloves boxer. His lifelong passion was golf, and for many years he was a fixture at Lakeside Golf Club in Jefferson.

Pat is survived by his wife, Kay; his daughter, Kathy Soria; his three sons Kevin; Michael (Anna), of Providence, R.I.; and Ryan, of Des Moines; his two grandsons, Miles and Wesley, of Des Moines; two sisters, Marion O’Mara, of Taluca Lake, Calif., and Charlotte DeLay, of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
