Iva Mae Naylor

Iva Mae (Handley) Naylor, 97, of Perry, formerly of Jefferson, passed away Mar. 12 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home.

Iva was the daughter of Sadie Salsberry and Loren Handley and was born September 11, 1916 in Unionville, Missouri. Iva grew up on a farm by Pennville, Missouri and attended country school. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she was a youth leader and sang in the choir until 1936 when she and her parents moved to Greene County. Iva then lived in the Greenbrier Township area where she attended the Methodist Country Church and where she met her husband, Robert Naylor. They were married on February 3, 1940 and later had three sons: Lonnie Eugene, Steven Kent and Phillip Ray. Iva helped Robert farm until 1963 when they decided to stop farming and moved to Jefferson where Iva worked at the Truck Haven Café for 13 years until retiring in 1980. In 1988 Iva and Robert moved to Adams Court in Jefferson. Iva was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Jefferson.

Survivors include her son Phillip Naylor (Marilyn) of Rippey; four grandchildren: Sherry Naylor and friend Gary Robbins, Charles Naylor (Jolene), Trent Naylor and Jarred Naylor, other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Robert; sons Lonnie and his wife Jean and Steven; sister Hazel Ruth Smith.

Services for Iva were held 10 a.m. Mar. 17 at the Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Visitation with family was one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rod Block of The Dwelling Place provided words of comfort. Casketbearers were Jarred Naylor, Charles Naylor, Ted Scheuermann and Gary Robbins. Danille Curtis was the musician and hymns sang were Be Still, My Soul and Amazing Grace. Interment was at the Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson.
