LaVerne Miers
LaVerne E. Miers, 90, of Boonville, MO, passed away Mar. 3 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Mar. 7 with Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Visitation will be Mar. 7 at 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Billingsville, MO.
Laverne Miers was born Jan. 29, 1924 in Grand Junction, he was the son of Fredrick A. Miers and Ethel DeWitt Miers. LaVerne served his country with the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a superintendent in the construction business until he moved to Boonville, where he worked at Toastmaster until his retirement. Lavern married Mary Ruth Hill in Boonville Apr. 1, 1966. He was very devoted to her, until her death 10 days ago on Feb. 20.
Laverne was very outspoken, an entertaining story teller and he was very proud of his service to his country. He enjoyed fishing very much, took pride in his yard and the upkeep of his home. He loved to fly and he logged many many hours flying around the country for both business and pleasure, which cultivated many exciting stories that he loved to share with others.
LaVerne is survived by his stepchildren: Ralph Hill of Boonville and Bruce Hill (Debbie) of Columbia; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, one sister and his step-daughter Carol Jean Hill.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
