Louis Tronchetti

Louis D. Tronchetti, 88, of Jefferson, died Saturday, November 14, 2015, surrounded by all his immediate family at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Words of comfort will be provided by Reverend Julie Poulsen. The Jefferson High School Class of 1945 will serve as honorary bearers. Casket bearers will be grandchildren Brad Tronchetti, Laura Tronchetti, Lisa Tronchetti, Megan Tronchetti Hicks and great-granddaughter Lainey Neva Hicks. We Shall Behold Him and The Lord’s Prayer will be vocal solos and congregational hymns will consist of  Oh God, Our Help In Ages Past, Amazing Grace, and Hymn Of Promise with Danille Curtis as the accompanist and Gary Haupert as the soloist. Interment will be at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa with military rites provided by Iowa National Guard Honor Guard.

Louis Darrell Tronchetti was born July 4, 1927 under a shade tree in the back yard of the family home at 700 South Elm in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Louis and Rozella (Enfield) Tronchetti.  Louie graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945.  He served in the United States Army for 2 years.  After his honorable discharge, Louie began farming north of Jefferson in 1947.  Louie was united in marriage to Neva Doris Herriott, on February 15, 1953.  They lived in Jefferson and then moved to a farm north of Jefferson in 1954. Louie grew up in Jefferson.  As a youth he worked in the family business, “Louie’s Candy Kitchen.”  From an early age Louie had a passion for everything agriculture.  In High School Louie was active in Future Farmers of America; he was recognized with many local chapter awards.  His diversified farm operation always included raising hogs.  Louie was especially proud of his Specific Pathogen Free Purebred Duroc Breeding Stock.  He was a skilled producer and a natural salesman.  After Louie retired from farming, he and Neva enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona.  When Neva’s health declined, Louie became a devoted care giver.  In 2008, Louie and Neva moved to Ever Greene Ridge in Jefferson, Iowa.  They were married for 57 years before her death March 1, 2010.

Louie worked hard to have a successful farm operation, but he also found time to volunteer.  Louie was a leader for the Hardin Happy Hustlers 4-H Club.  He served on the Greene County Fair Board and the Federal Land Bank Board of Directors.  Louie was elected President of the Iowa SPF Swine Association and then the National SPF Swine Association.  Louie was recognized by Iowa Pork Producers as a Master Pork Producer.  In 1978 Wallaces Farmer Magazine named Louie a Master Farmer. Louie never met a stranger.  Everywhere he went, with a few comments or a few questions, he could engage anyone in conversation.  “Grandpa Louie” was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grand daughter.  He spent many hours following them and supporting them in their many varied interests.

Louis D. Tronchetti is survived by his sons Louis Barry (Vicki) Tronchetti and Daniel Lee (Susan) Tronchetti; his grandchildren Megan Tronchetti (Ryan) Hicks, Brad Tronchetti, Laura (Travis Kersey) Tronchetti, and Lisa Tronchetti; his great grandchild Lainey Neva Hicks; his step-grandchildren Keri Clark, Karla Fought, and Kristi Terronez; his sister Virginia Wright; his sister-in-law Lois (Loren) Jacobson; and his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom he cherished.

Preceding Louie in death were his wife Neva D. Tronchetti, his parents Louis and Rozella (Enfield) Tronchetti, and his sister Vivien Goodwin.

The Family is especially appreciative and thankful for the wonderful care Lenore’s “girls” and the staff of Ever Greene Ridge gave Louie as his health declined.
