Luella Moranville

Luella Katherine Juhl Moranville, 102, died November 5, 2015 at the Greene County Medical Center Long Term Care in Jefferson, Iowa.

Service of rememberance was held Monday, Nov. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Rev. Timothy A. Jones delivered the words of comfort. Music was performed by organist, Marilynn Hoskinson. Congregational singing included In The Garden, Just As I Am, and Abide With Me. Casket bearers were Mike Gardner, Andy Gardner, Steve Peterson, Robert Miller, Wayne Juhl, Brian Juhl, and Mark Juhl. Interment was in Maas Cemetery in Boone County, Iowa.

Luella was born February 9, 1913, in Dana, Iowa to Peter Juhl and Katherine Mechart Juhl. She grew up in the Dana area and graduated from high school in 1931.  After high school, Luella moved in with a family member to help keep house and help with the children.  On March 11, 1944, Luella was united in marriage to Kenneth Moranville at Camp Wolters, Texas.  They were the parents of one son, David Kenneth. Luella and Kenneth made their home in Dana, Iowa where they owned and operated the town’s gas station.  The family moved to Glidden in 1955 and owned and operated a motel for 20 years,  retiring in 1975.  They later moved to Grand Junction before settling in Jefferson in 1996.  After retiring, Luella and Kenneth spent many years wintering in Arkansas and Arizona.

Luella enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts and baking.  The family had their favorites, which included frosted sugar cookies and fudgins.

Luella was baptized on March 23, 1913 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa and was confirmed there on August 7, 1927.  She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden before becoming a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Preceding Luella in death were her parents; her husband in 2010; her son David Kenneth in 1970; 4 brothers:  Ed, Wilbur, Walter, and Clarence; and two sisters: Marie and Pauline.

Luella is survived by sister-in-law: Leone Peterson of Jefferson, IA; niece Marilyn Peterson and her husband Harold of Jefferson, IA; many other relatives and friends.

Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home assisted the family.
