Lynn Holsclaw

Lynn Owen Holsclaw, 85, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his home.  In accordance with his family wishes, his remains were cremated. A celebration of his life was held at the Jefferson V.F.W. Hall on Wednesday, February 24 starting at 5:00 p.m. where a light lunch was served. No other services or visitation will be held. Burial was made in the Jefferson City Cemetery.

Lynn, the son of Owen and Rosa (Mathison) Holsclaw, was born May 5, 1930 in Onawa, Iowa. He graduated from the Onawa High School in 1948.  Lynn worked in a grocery store in Onawa for two year before entering the U.S. Army in September of 1950.  He received his discharge in June of 1952.  Lynn came to Jefferson in 1961. He worked and managed grocery stores for 30 years including the Safeway Grocery Store in Jefferson.  He later worked as a car salesman for Greene County Motors and Podlesak Motors for many years before starting his own car lot.  Lynn was married to Sarah (Rowe) (Nance) on November 1, 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; three children: Karen (Steve) Shultz of Onawa, Brian Holsclaw of Des Moines and Kathy Blackford of Des Moines; four step-sons: David (Terry) Nance of Denton, TX., Scott Nance of Jefferson, Russell (Vickie) Nance of Woodward, and Randy (Lisa) Nance of Henderson, Neb.: three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Agnetta Holsclaw of Onawa.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin; a brother, Ernest Holsclaw; and two sisters, Margaret Donahue and Winifred Thomson.
 

The Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson assisted the family with arrangements.
