Mildred Robson

Mildred Ruth (Tews) Robson, 90, of Carroll and formerly of Scranton passed away on Mar. 14 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Born on March 12, 1924 at Arcadia, IA, she was the daughter of Rev. Theo A. and Alice (Rothe) Tews.  Mildred was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on March 16, 1924 by her father Rev. Theo A. Tews.  Her sponsors were Amanda Tank and Minnie Lussman.  She was confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church. 

Mildred went to school in Arcadia, graduating with the class of 1942.  She attended A.I.B. in Council Bluffs.  She was employed at Westside State Savings Bank for over 30 years.  Mildred was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid, Fellowship Club and Arcadia Ace Club.  Mildred was united in marriage to Woodrow W. Strathman of Westside on January 24, 1951.  To this union were born two children: Terry and Becky.  Woodrow passed away in 1974.  Mildred was married to John F. Kroeger of Arcadia on November 29, 1975 at Zion Lutheran Church.  He passed away in 1993.  On January 3, 1995 Mildred was married to Warren A. Robson of Scranton at Zion Lutheran Church in a ceremony conducted by her brother Rev. John M. Tews. Sr.  The couple made their home south of Scranton until Mildred moved to assisted living.
Mildred is survived by her husband Warren A. Robson of Scranton; a son Terry Strathman of Carroll; a daughter Becky Trotter (Mark Chadourne) of Boone, IA; three grandchildren: Matthew Trotter, Jeffrey Trotter (Jenny), and Nicole Trotter; seven great grandchildren: Melissa, Christine, Kaitlin, Taylor, Brogan, Breanne, and Kyler; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, a brother Rev. John Tews Sr. and his wife Irene, and a brother Alvin Tews and his wife Ruth.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Mar. 18 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Ben Dose officiating.  Organist for the service was Rebecca Dose.  Casket bearers were Al Hunter, Merle Witt, John Vetter, Wesley Stoelk, Scot Stoelk, and Bruce Mason.  Burial was in the Westside Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
