Opal Mischke

Opal Irene “Dutch” Mischke was born on Nov. 14, 1956 in Jefferson Iowa to Leslie and Phyllis Ashcraft.

Dutch passed away Jan. 21,2023 at 66 years, surrounded by many family members, to an illness she had battled for many years. 

Dutch leaves behind her Mother Phyllis Ashcraft of Jefferson, three sisters, Polly (Bruce) Hadley of Bayard, Mary (Chuck) Silbaugh of Jefferson, and Sheri (Craig) Mertz of Carroll, a daughter Debbie (Tom) Dennhardt of Jefferson, a son Derek Ott of Ft. Dodge, a daughter in law Heather Ott of Atlantic, her grandchildren Nichole (RJ Freese) Dennhardt  of Lake City, Mark (Karina) Kendall of Jefferson, Katlyn (Rio Prescott) Kendall of Jefferson, Tabby (Jimmy Fetters) Kendall of Carroll, Jadia and Aden Ott of Atlantic, Mandi Rohan of Bellevue (who Dutch and Nile helped raise), Her great-grandchildren Dustin, Kylie, Faith, Ellen, and Mason, Many nieces and nephews, her step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives. 

Dutch was married to Nile Mischke for 24 years. They both shared a love of the outdoors, with fishing being the prominent. Dutch also enjoyed camraderie with her best friend Connie Burgart of Grand Junction. 

Dutch was preceded in death by her loving husband Nile in 2010, her Father Leslie, a nephew John Robert, her mother and father in law, Marie and Lynn Mischke and many other beloved relatives. 

There was a small family service held Jan. 29 at the Church of Christ officiated by Bruce Webster in Jefferson. 

There will be a burial of the Urn and a Celebration of life/potluck Bbq for family and friends that wish to share in the joy of Dutch’s life being planned for late spring/early summer at Spring Lake County Park, so please look for details to come from family. 

Our family wishes to extend a gracious thank you to everyone for the calls, flowers/plants, and overall love given during this difficult time.
