Patricia Ellen (Mitchell) Taylor, 82, of Creston died Sunday, Nov. 13, at Mt. Ayr Health Care Center Facility in Mt. Ayr. Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Central Church, 500 South Birch in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate the service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Nov. 15, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Patricia Taylor Memorial Fund with intentions to create a Green Valley State Park memorial in Patricia’s name. Patricia Ellen Taylor, daughter of John Mitchell and Bessie (Kuster) Mitchell, was born on July 16, 1940, in Guthrie Center. She graduated in 1958 from the Menlo High School in Menlo.

On Jan. 31, 1959, Patricia was united in marriage to Charlie Taylor in Stuart. Pat and Charlie moved to Creston where Pat was an active mother and homemaker. She was a member at the Church of the Nazarene and was in T.O.P.S. and K.O.P.S. Clubs  for over 50 years, winning several awards. Pat was the proud mother of five children: Chuck, Craig, Curtis, Christopher (Bud) and Crystal. In 1977, Pat started her career as a District Secretary for the Department of Natural Resources at Green Valley State Park until she retired in 2013. 

Pat’s hobbies included cooking and baking, spending time in her flower gardens, attending sport activities, and riding motorcycles with her husband, Charlie. Together, Pat and Charlie enjoyed riding their Harley and traveling alongside their dear friends. They met many new friends during their adventures while traveling to all the states including Canada and Mexico. Attending the Sturgis motorcycle rallies for over 30 years was the highlight of their summers. But most importantly, Pat dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She spent most of her time attending all their activities and being their biggest cheerleader.

Patricia is survived by her family: son, Charles, Jr. (Melissa Wallace) of Ankeny, son Craig (wife Linda) - their children, Aubrey (Kyle Cook) of Des Moines, Garret (Taylor Linenberger) of Cedar Falls, and Evan of Creston, son, Curtis (wife Debbie) - their children, Cayla (husband Blake Miller ), their girls Althea and Cordelia of Des Moines, Cyle (wife Jenna) , - their boy Calvin  of Grimes and Casey of Des Moines, Son, Bud (Sherry Taylor) - their child, Cory of Pleasanton and daughter, Crystal (Dave Brown) of Creston’ her brother, Sam (wife Paula) Mitchell of Ogden. 

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie Taylor, her two brothers, Ray Snell and John Kent and three sisters, Sue Raibikis, Kay Grubbs and Joan Nolan.
