Paul Foster Jr.

Paul William Foster Jr. was born Oct. 8, 1938, to Paul William Foster and Nanabelle McFadden Foster. His mother died at his birth.  In 1941, Paul Jr. and his older brother, Andrew, welcomed Kathryn Clark and her son, Jerry, into the Foster family.  Brother Donald was born later.

Paul was active in sports at Scranton High School and college. He participated in football, baseball and track, and he played in a dance band.

Paul Jr. married Wanda LaRee Kennett on Nov. 23, 1958, and they welcomed Jason, Paul William III and Lori into their family.

Paul held many jobs during his lifetime, mostly as general manager of various farm cooperatives. Most notably, Paul pioneered covered lagoon cattle confinement systems in Radcliffe.

He was living in Illinois at the time of his retirement. He and his wife, Linda, then moved to a farm in Oklahoma to raise cattle for five years. Paul and Linda returned to Iowa, and made their home in Jefferson to be around family.

Linda passed away in October of 2017, and soon afterwards, Paul and Darlene Taggart started seeing each other.  “She was the light of my life,” Paul was known to say about Darlene.

Paul William Foster Jr. died Aug. 15 at his home in Jefferson. He was 82 years of age. He was preceded in death by both mothers and his father; brother Andrew; wife Linda; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul is survived by two sons:  Jason (Odette) Foster and Paul W. (Patti) Foster III; daughter Lori Kaye (Daniel) Foster-Weber;  grandchildren:  Jaki Foster, Kandace (Alex) Foster, Kaitlyn Foster, Kendyl (Stephen) Heins, Kyle Foster, Abigail Weber, Emilie Weber and Ian (Connor) Weber; great-grandchildren: Jayce Foster, Gabriel Foster, and two on the way. He is also survived by two brothers: Jerry (Coy) and Donald.

Paul’s parting words would be: “Goodbye, have a nice life, take care of your people, and the whole nine yards and all that.”

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 at Wild Rose Casino and Resort.

Services have been arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
