Richard Fister

Private memorial services for Richard D. Fister, 78, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Davenport, were held at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. Richard took his final journey home on Feb. 19, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his family.

Richard Dean Fister was born on Aug. 22, 1936 in Greene Co.,  the son of John and Lucille (Burrell) Fister. He joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Hamul during the Korean Conflict. On March 5, 1958 Richard was joined in marriage to Marian Louise Potter.  From that union they had four children, Mark, Beth, Carl, and Kelly. He worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. for many years before becoming an owner operator. Richard lived most of his life in Davenport before moving to Cedar Rapids to live with his daughter. He was a hard working man, wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. We love you Dad.

He is survived by three Children: Mark (Dawn) Fister of Britt, IA, Beth (Marvin) Bluedorn of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kelly (Michelle) Fister of Davenport; Daughter-in-Law: Pam Fister of Davenport; Brother: Claude Fister; 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; and a son, Carl.
