Ruth Jones
Ruth N. Jones, 99, of Perry, formerly of Dana, IA, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, IA.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Perry, IA. Visitation was on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial was in the Junction Township Cemetery at Grand Junction.
Ruth Nellie Jones was born on September 24, 1916 in rural St. Charles, Jackson Twp., Warren County IA to James Horace and Gladys Alveda McClure McCrea. She attended school at St. Marys, IA, graduating with the class of 1934. She attended Simpson College at Indianola, IA where she received a two year lower elementary degree in 1937. Her first teaching job was first grade at Elliott, IA. She then taught kindergarten and first grade at St. Charles. On June 12, 1940, she was married to Claude Edgar Jones at the Presbyterian Manse at Indianola, IA. She returned to teaching in 1959. She finished her teaching career at the following schools, Paton, IA, Dawson, IA, Boxholm, IA and Pilot Mound, IA, retiring in 1981. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Drake University at Des Moines, IA, graduating in 1972. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed travel, crafts, sewing and reading.
She was preceded in death by parents and husband Claude Edgar Jones.
She is survived by her children, Joanne Jones, Perry, IA, Janet (Larry) Imel, Springdale, AR and James (Barbie) Jones, Independence, MO; grandchildren, Loretta (Ray) Mansell, Springdale, AR, Paul (Jessica) Imel, Bentonville, AR, Sarah Jones, Mena, AR, Josh Jones, Independence, MO, Beth Jones, Independence, MO, Rachel (David) Marshall, Lowell, AR; great grandchildren, Avery and Gavin Mansell, Malcolm Imel, and Alanna and Eian Marshall; and brother, Philip McCrea, St. Charles, IA.
Memorials will be given to HCI Care Services, First Baptist Church of Perry or Central Missionary Clearing House of Houston, TX (Joanne’s Spanish Ministry) and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.carrisfuneralhome.com
