Tami Mohr
Tami L. Mohr, daughter of Gary and Elaine (Lovell) Mount, was born November 5, 1962 in Carroll, Iowa and left this life surrounded by her family on July 28, 2016 at her home in Lohrville, Iowa at the age of 53 years, 8 months and 23 days.
Tami was raised on a farm west of Churdan and attended and graduated from Paton-Churdan High School in 1981. She attended Iowa State University and Iowa Central Community College for undergraduate training to become an RN. She later attended Briar Cliff University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing, followed by her Master’s Degree in Public Health from Des Moines University. She was awarded the opportunity to go to Africa with “Medicine for Mali” upon the completion of her Masters.
On June 5, 1982, Tami Mount was united in marriage to Gene Kinney at the Churdan United Methodist Church. To this union were born three children: Colter, Kendra and Carter. They made their home in Lohrville and raised their family. They were later divorced, but made every effort to raise their children together. On May 27, 2011, Tami was united in marriage to Jared Mohr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They continued to make their home in Lohrville.
Tami started her nursing career at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa. She later devoted 24 years to Calhoun Public Health. She resigned from CCPH to better support the concrete and aggregate business that she and her husband established in 2010. She was affectionately known as the village nurse in Lohrville as she often treated injuries for folks around town and served on the Lohrville EMS as an EMT for over 25 years. She was a dedicated member of the Lohrville City Council for over 15 years and was eager to volunteer for the community.
She loved going to her dad’s farm and helping out as well as traveling and spending time with those she loved. Tami lived for her family and was always concerned with their well-being and often told them to “Be happy.” She was an adored wife, mom, grandma, daughter, aunt, sister and friend.
Tami leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, Jared; three children: Colter (Allison) Kinney of Lohrville, Kendra Kinney (Josh) Campbell of Maple River and Carter and his fiancé Melissa Kerber of Lohrville; two grandsons, Hayden and Harris Kinney; and a brother, Troy (Tanya) Mount of Glidden. Also surviving are Tami’s step-mother, Wendy Mount and step-grandmother, Alice McILrath of the Mount family farm west of Churdan; step-brother, Michael (Tracy) Steffen of Des Moines; and step-sister, Connie (Chuck) Pritzel and sons Thomas and Tyler of Palmyra, Wisconsin.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents; a brother, Todd Mount; and grandparents, Ward and Flossie Mount and Roy and Edna Lovell.
Funeral services were held August 1, 2016 at the Lohrville United Methodist Church with Pastor Lorinda Hoover officiating. Burial was made in the Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan.
