Terry Wright

A service for Terry Wayne Wright was held 10:00 a.m. Nov. 3, at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Nove. 2 with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Ransom of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Paulette Wilcoxen, The late Ronald Wright, The late Ervin Wright, Sharon Taylor, Gary Wright, Leonard Wright and The late Ruth Ann Wright.

Casket bearers were: Ryan Sutherland, Justin Toomey, Nathan Huisman, Daniel Hodson, Allan Wright and Steve Long. Music performed by Terry Wright was: Then Now & Forever, What A Wonderful World, The Dance and Keep Me In Your Heart. Miss You by Avril Levine was also played.

A luncheon was served in the Hastings Funeral Home Lounge immediately following the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Wright Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa.

Terry Wayne Wright, son of Paul Grant Wright and Ruth Evelyn Lindell Wright, was born August 16, 1953 in Jefferson, Iowa and died October 30, 2014 in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 61. Terry graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971 and then attended Iowa University as well as DMACC. He married Beth Woodard and the couple was blessed with three daughters Mindy, Missy and Jessie and they made their home in Jefferson. On May 27, 2000 Terry and Christine Kennedy were united in marriage. They lived in Woodward. He worked as a mechanic for Dick Pauley, was a salesman for several car dealerships including Harrison Ford and Finch’s. Terry worked at Woodward Resource Center as a Residential Treatment Worker. He had his own company delivering freight out of Des Moines. He later was employed at CINTAS in Grimes. He loved owning and operating Wright Song Entertainment for 13 years providing Karaoke and where he was a DJ. He owned his own studio. Terry loved entertaining, cooking for parties and decorating. In addition to his love of music he liked the Iowa Hawkeyes and going on vacation to Alabama. Terry enjoyed spending time in his studio with family and friends and get-togethers with family and grandchildren were particularly important to him. In earlier days he participated in plays, doing Community Theatre and also played adult softball. Terry was always smiling, had a great sense of humor and loved all people.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruth Wright, brothers Ronald Wright and Ervin Wright, and sister Ruth Ann Wright. Terry is survived by his wife Christine Wright of Woodward; daughters Mindy Long (Steven) of Waukee, Missy Huisman of Pleasant Hill, and Jessie Hodson (Daniel) of Pleasant Hill; son Ryan Sutherland (Caitlin) of Woodward; nine grandchildren: Allan Long, Abby Long, Alexis Long, Nathan Huisman, Kelcey Huisman, Nicholas Huisman, Carson Huisman, Madison Hodson and Megan Hodson; two brothers Gary Wright (Jolee) of North Port, Fla. and Leonard Wright (Lisa) of Perry; sisters Paulette Wilcoxen ( Fred) of Tulsa, Okla., Sharon “Sharry” Taylor of Perry; sister-in law Carolyn Wright of Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
