It was another good night for Greene County baseball and softball teams, as they both won convincingly over varsity teams from Nevada on June 3. The baseball team pummeled the Cubs with 15 hits. Leading the Ram offense were Jordan Challen and Riah Nelsen who both connected for a double and two singles, and Alex Rasmussen, Jordan Hostetler, and Tyler Beger who all ripped two singles. Rasmussen, Beger, Hostetler, and Daric Whipple were credited with two RBI, while Nelsen and Reid Lamoureux each knocked in one run.
Senior hurler Riah Nelsen had another outstanding pitching performance. Nelsen gave up two hits, and no runs, while striking out nine batters and issuing no walks. Greene County improved to 4-1 in conference play, and is on the road at Winterset for a non-conference game tonight (June 4)
Greene County’s softball team extended their win streak to 8-0 with a 12-1 victory over the Cubs. Senior Marissa Promes got her seventh win of the season by giving up 1 hit, and one earned run, while striking out 10 and walking only one. For the season, Promes has 58 K’s and 13 walks in 41 innings on the mound. The Ram team supported Promes with 10 hits and solid defense throughout the night. Tressa Rasmussen belted a three run home run and Kayla Mobley also drove in three runs with a double.  Carleigh Paup drove in two runs with a triple, and Promes helped herself by knocking in two more with a single. Other players contributing to the offensive attack were Sydney Koch with a double and a single, and Hannah Onken, Bailey Godwin, Emma Saddoris, and Emily Christensen with one single each.
