First half dominance grants Rams third-straight victory

Staff Report

The wins continued to pile up, as have the stats.

The start of a new month didn’t slow down the Rams at all. Monday night the Rams were able to take on PCM where the Rams were able to gain a 9-0 victory over the Mustangs.

Not only was that the third-straight win for the Rams it was also the sixth shutout of the season for the Rams.

Early on the Rams were able to light up the scoreboard.

Eight times in the first 40 minutes Greene County was able to score against PCM as the lead quickly escalated out of hand.

Despite the windy conditions that prevailed throughout the pitch the Rams were able to make the game seem almost easy as they quickly put the game out of hand.

Not only was the offense cooking for the Rams, but their defense again seemed to be working just as hard.

Rarely throughout the first half did the Mustangs threaten to get a shot on goal against Greene County. In fact, it was rare for the Rams to even allow PCM to cross the midline stripe of the pitch.

In the second half the Rams weren’t quite able to get their same offensive support going as they only scored one more goal.

The Rams were able to hold onto their lead and eventually the win. The victory moves the Rams to 9-1 overall on the season.

A majority of the goals on Monday came from two players.

Junior Gesser Gutierres was able to score four goals on five shots on Monday.

Jose Velazco added three goals. He also had four assists in the game. Velazco added five shots on goal.
