Greene County’s shuttle hurdle relay team did not have the performance that they wanted at the Drake Relays, as they fell for the first time this season and crossed the finish line in 1:16.12, which was eight seconds slower than their best time this year. Whenever one enters a race that involves hurdling, there are many chances for something to go wrong. The Greene County girls weren’t the only team that had difficulties, as four of the 16 teams in the race were eventually disqualified including Mount Pleasant who thought for a short time that they were the Drake Relays champions, but lost their title when it was determined that one of the runners left the blocks too soon. Coach Kelly Simpson had the following comments, “44 things can go wrong with the shuttle hurdle relay- 4 starts, and 40 hurdles. It’s just the nature of the event, and we haven’t been snake bit for awhile. This will just get us more focused for the rest of the season.”
