Whipple and Juergensen named to All-State

Staff report
The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2015 All-State Football selections Tuesday. Two Greene County players, seniors Daric Whipple and Noah Juergensen, were respectively named to the Class 3A list for their efforts throughout the 2015 season. Whipple, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound quarterback and defensive back, was named to the 3A Second Team as a defensive back. Juergensen, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound offensive lineman and defensive lineman, was named to the 3A Third Team as a defensive lineman.

“Daric was a three-year starter for us and finished his career with a terrific senior season,” Greene County head football coach Dean Lansman said. “He made great strides over the past three years and worked very hard to get to where he is today. He plans on continuing his carrer at the next level, but is currently unsure on where he will be attending college.

“Noah became an offensive starter for us in week six of his freshman season and became a two-way starter for us this season where he played end on defense,” Lansman added. “He led the team in tackles for loss and passes knocked down. Noah would like the chance continue playing football at the next level and is keeping his opportunities open at this point.”

Congratualtions to Daric and Noah for their All-State recognition and for their successful seasons on the gridiron this fall.
